EU4Health Joint Action MENTOR Celebrates First Anniversary

On 1 September 2025, the EU4Health-funded Joint Action MENTOR reached its first anniversary. The project started only a year ago, but it has already grown into a broad network working across Europe to strengthen mental health and well-being — an area of public health that is more important than ever.

During the first year, MENTOR partners from over 20 countries have been busy turning plans into action. Several early deliverables have been completed, and activities are now running at full speed across the project’s six Work Packages. The results are already visible: first sets of reports, policy recommendations, and examples of innovative practice are emerging to support stronger and fairer mental health systems.

What Has Been Achieved So Far

Some highlights from the first year include:

  • building a foundation for sustainable collaboration across countries and sectors,
  • advancing work on new approaches to prevention and support,
  • producing early resources that can be taken up by policymakers and practitioners.

These achievements show what can be done when public health authorities, research institutions, and civil society organisations share knowledge and expertise.

Working Together

From the beginning, MENTOR has been about collaboration. The project does not take a one-size-fits-all approach. Instead, it focuses on sharing ideas and adapting solutions to local needs. This way, countries can learn from each other while shaping responses that make sense in their own context.

Looking to Year Two

The second year of MENTOR will be about building on this momentum. Priorities for the months ahead include:

  • delivering a wider range of practical tools,
  • helping Member States apply recommendations at the national level,
  • keeping people’s needs and experiences at the centre of all activities.

Acknowledging the Effort

Reaching this point has only been possible thanks to the effort and commitment of everyone involved. The anniversary is therefore not just a project milestone, but also a moment to recognise the energy and teamwork that partners have put in during the past year.
