JA MENTOR at Health in Europe: Joint Actions, Joint Future — Advancing Sustainability and Synergies Across European Health Initiatives
On 28 October 2025, JA MENTOR participated in the international conference “Health in Europe: Joint Actions, Joint Future”, held in Odense, Denmark. The event, organised by the Region of Southern Denmark in partnership with JA PreventNCD under the EU4Health programme, brought together representatives from multiple EU Joint Actions, policymakers, researchers, and health leaders to strengthen cooperation and address shared health challenges.
JA MENTOR Contributions
As the coordinating institution of JA MENTOR, the National Centre of Mental Health (Latvia) contributed to two key conference sessions:
- Sibilla Laura Neimane, JA MENTOR Coordinator, spoke in Session 3: Joint Actions and Sustainability. Her intervention focused on the strategic priorities of the Joint Action and highlighted how long-term stakeholder engagement, cross-sector collaboration, and the integration of sustainable practices are essential to the success of large-scale European health initiatives.
- Dr. Liene Sīle, JA MENTOR Scientific Officer, participated in Session 4: Mechanisms to Succeed with Sustainability. She stressed the importance of putting end beneficiaries – patients and service users – at the centre of policy development, ensuring that sustainability is grounded in real, lasting improvements for mental health systems across Europe.
Strengthening Sustainability and Cross-Action Synergies
The Odense event underscored a core message shared across all Joint Actions: sustainability is not achieved in isolation. Meaningful, long-term impact requires:
- stronger synergies across Joint Actions,
- open communication and shared learning,
- coordinated strategies aligned with EU health priorities, and
- mechanisms that ensure continuity beyond project lifecycles.
JA MENTOR’s contributions highlighted how mental health intersects with many other European health priorities and how collaborative approaches can reinforce resilience and inclusiveness across healthcare systems.
