EU4Health Joint Action Mental Health Together – MENTOR

MENTOR aims to promote mental health by sharing experiences across a wide spectrum, from political initiatives to clinical professional practices. It incorporates evidence-based best practices and adapts initiatives to achieve long-term sustainability, with the goal of enhancing mental health and well-being at both individual and population levels.

MENTOR objectives:

  1. Ensure efficient dissemination of MENTOR activities/outcomes.
  2. Promote the sustainability and implementation of MENTOR outcomes through the different mental health care systems across the Europe region. 
  3. Strengthen the capacity of mental health literacy by developing policy recommendations and intervention tools targeted to vulnerable groups and fighting stigma.
  4. Contribute to increasing access to evidence-based practices and innovative approaches of mental health monitoring, promotion and prevention to manage mental health conditions in communities.
  5. Improve monitoring systems of mental health to heighten awareness for mental health problems and ensure earlier detection of individuals at risk and address data driven decisions.
  6. Reduce social inequalities in population targeting people with mental health issues.
  7. Foster methods to evaluate and implement MHIAP approaches at national and regional levels.
  8. Identify evidence-based interventions for promotion and prevention of mental health issues in vulnerable and general population.
  9. Support recovery-oriented and inclusive practice in the care of people with mental health condition.
  10. Implement personalized and comprehensive approaches to mental health.

Project structure

JA MENTOR consists of 6 Work Packages (WP): four horizontal WPs (1-4) responsible for project management (WP1), dissemination (WP2), project evaluation (WP3) and sustainability of project outputs (WP4), and two technical WPs (5-6) with tasks aimed to achieve the content-related objectives of the project.  Each WP is led by a WP Leader, and the two technical WPs are divided into tasks and subtasks. Each task has a task leader and co-leader, who are responsible for reaching their task’s deliverables and objectives. Progress of each WP is the responsibility of respective WP leader/co-leader.

GOALS

  1. Supporting policy makers at national and regional levels in the design, implementation, and improvement of mental health in all policies approaches; 
  2. Promoting mental health in communities with focus on vulnerable groups, and tackling stigma and discrimination associated with mental health problems and addiction by sharing good practices, methods and online tools;
  3. Empowering people with lived experience (PLE) and their inclusion in mental health policy and services; 
  4. Providing care pathways to promote proactive and person-centered care for people with mental disorders through the Personal Health Budget;
  5. Preparing systems for monitoring mental health in the population, facilitating evaluation, and directing effective action and help to vulnerable groups.

For Displaced Persons from Ukraine:

  • Digital Assessment Tools: Introduction of digital tools for mental health assessment
  • Evidence-Based Support: Implementation of mechanisms to identify individuals at high risk of mental health issues
  • Integrated Care: Development of care pathways that integrate policies, services, and resources to support Ukrainian refugees

For Children and Adolescents:

  • ACE Assessment Tools: Digital tools to evaluate factors impacting youth mental health
  • Training Programs: Programs for professionals and educators to strengthen youth mental resilience during crises
  • Best Practices: Development of best practices for promoting mental health among youth living in adverse conditions

For Marginalized Groups (Migrants, Refugees, Roma):

  • Healthcare Equity: Reduction of healthcare inequalities and improved access to mental health services
  • Sustainable Digital Tools: Availability of accessible and sustainable digital tools to support mental health and well-being
